1- Grammatical structures
Band 7 chỉ dừng ở "a variety of complex structures";
Band 8: "a wide range of structures";
Band 9:"a wide range of structures with full flexibility and accuracy"
- Khái niệm "flexibility" ở band 9 ko có định lượng rõ ràng. Bản thân thấy 1 số ví dụ cho "flexibility" như:
- "câu điều kiện" chuyển sang "inversion";
- mệnh đề tính từ của which thì "reduced clauses", "followed by..."
Ví dụ: Their physical and mental health has experienced gradual deterioration in almost all organs by the lapse of time, which can become disturbance in their work performance.
Revised: Both of their physical and mental health have experienced gradual deterioration in certain organs such as hearts and lungs by the lapse of time, followed by the likelihood of their poor work performance.
- không lặp các loại câu,
Ví dụ: Introduction dùng It is true that... thì các câu sau không dùng lại cấu trúc It is + adj + that....
Ví dụ: Dùng mệnh đề tính từ của "..., which is...." thì các câu sau không lặp lại cấu trúc "..., which is...". (Nhiều người mới tập viết hay lặp cấu trúc "...,which is...")
- đổi thứ tự, ví dụ "When X, Y" thì cấu trúc các câu sau có thể"Y when X"
- thay vì cho "for instance" đứng đầu thì cho ở giữa "Many students, for instance, will have to leave their families, live in halls of residence and meet new friends."
- Liên quan đến số lượng cấu trúc câu, thông thường "a wide range" là ít nhất 10 câu "complex+compound" nếu bài viết có tổng cộng 13 câu. Để biết thêm về cấu trúc câu, xem clip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Az4wPmH5nrw
Tóm tắt nội dung clip
Cách chuyển đổi 1 câu thành nhiều câu (ý nghĩa câu mới có thể thay đổi đi 1 chút)
1- cụm giới từ, nghĩa positive
Thanks to/By dint of/By virtue of the organisation of international sports events (I.S.E), the national image will be promoted.
2- complex, nghĩa neutral
When I.S.E are organised, ....
3- Lược bỏ to be
With I.S.E organised,....
(bỏ to be của bị động: I.S.E are organised....)
4- lược chủ ngữ chung
Organising I.S.E, countries can promote their national image.
5- Cụm danh từ
With the organisation of I.S.E, countries....
6- Điều kiện loại II: không xảy ra hiện tại nhưng nhấn mạnh
Were it not for the organisation of I.S.E, countries would hardly promote their image.
(Were it not for+ Noun, S+ would+ (never/hardly) V)
7- Đảo ngữ Only
Only thanks to the organisation of I.S.E can countries promote their national image.
8. No sooner are/do/had...
No sooner are I.S.E organised than their national image can be promoted.

2. Punctuation chú ý dấu "," của của whereas, as, including, confined to
Ví dụ: A, whereas B nhưng A while B (while=during the time that) hoặc A, while B (while= whereas)

Trong task 1, lúc đưa số liệu thì thêm dấu "," đằng trước
Ví dụ:
Equipment reached its peak in 2001, at 23%

In second place on the all-time medals chart is the Soviet Union, with just over 1,000 medals.
Câu ghép: "I love her, she loves another guy"?
>> Revised: "I love her, but she loves another guy"

3- Các lỗi ngữ pháp khác nổi bật
- mạo từ: "Car is a social symbol in VN"
Revised: The car/A car is a social symbol in VN
-danh từ số ít-số nhiều, đếm được- không đêm được
- không parallel: Khi dùng “and” thì chú ý parallel
Ví dụ: retaining the best of the old and developing the potentiality in the young
Revised: retaining the pratical/hands-on knowledge/experience/know-how of the old and developing the innate traits in the young
- không dùng sở hữu trong 1 câu
Ví dụ: After students give feedback on teachers’ performance, they may find it fair, but this action can jeopardize the relationship between teachers and students.
Revised: After giving feedback on their teachers’ performance, students may find it fair, but this action can jeopardize the relationship with their teachers.
-tenses trong task 1
>> nếu mắc nhiều lỗi ngữ pháp thì rơi vào band 5, còn nếu có nhiều cấu trúc giúp thì rơi vào band 6
